Kylene Oculam

As a second generation Canadian in the family, I witnessed firsthand the struggle in which a family endures while being hundreds of miles away from home. The sacrifices that were made in order to give their own family a brighter future, were ones that were tremendously difficult. But despite the fact that they themselves were in a tight situation, when someone was in need of help - they would be there for them. This act of kindness and willingness to support one another is the definition of what the Lila community is. This sense of community has motivated me to be the person that I am today, and I will forever be grateful for it.

With that in mind, I believe The Lilac Foundation would perfectly exemplify the values in which the Lila community holds. Together with other motivated individuals, I hope we embody these values as we work together to make a difference in someone else’s life.
