LILAC Bench Project

For our first ever project, we wanted to make sure that the project that initially introduces us as a functioning organization, would be something impactful for the community. We wanted to make sure that the money donated to our project would go to a specific concern highlighted by the community. As we discussed for weeks on potential project ideas, we came to the realization that there is one thing that truly unites the community – and that would be the church. The importance of religion is seen all year round in the community of Lila – the high mass attendance, church festivities and etc. As we asked around, a major concern was brought to our attention specifically about the parish’s church pews. Individuals who have recently vacationed to Bohol have voiced their concerns about the poor conditions that the church pews are in – that the quality of the pews has depleted, and some are unable to use.

The Holy Rosary Parish is shown to be of great importance to the community and with this, in mind, we wanted to make sure that the church pew restoration was our number one priority.

The Lilac Bench Project will be a year-round project – where the money donated will go towards the creation of new church pews to replace the older ones currently in the parish. To start our mission and establish our name in the community, we set a goal to have 10 benches finished before Simbang Gabi of this year as our present to the community. The donation collection will be collected from this day forward.

From the efforts and donations accumulated at the end of 2018, we were able to start off 2019 with 6 completed benches for the parish!
