As you may have noticed, The Lilac Foundation hasn’t been active in the past two years.
As we all endure hardships these past couple of years, The Lilac Foundation has also been heavily impacted by the pandemic. With the restrictions that were enforced during the pandemic, it made fundraising extremely difficult for the foundation. As an organization whose focus is to uplift the quality of life, we also rely on the community as well. The Lila community and those affiliated with the community have been the main contributiors to the fundraising for our projects.
When the pandemic first arose, our main priority was the Cherish Campaign - Elders. The money we had raised was scheduled to be used to purchase canes for the elders of Lila. Unfortunately due to the pandemic; prices changed; shipping was delayed; and communication with manufacturers took days to respond. We ultimately had to choose what was important at the moment. The canes became our second priority, and our first was the people heavily impacted by the pandemic. We did the best we could with the money we had fundraised to provide food for 579 households to barangays: BanBan, Bonkokan Ilaya, Bonkokan Ubos, and Jambawan.
Mid last year, we promoted our “With Love” project which we intended to send balikbayan boxes to the community. Due to limited donations and supplies, we were not able to fulfill the two boxes as promised.
As restrictions are slowly being lifted around the world, we will plan accordingly with hope that in the near future we will be able to fundraise again and continue what we promised to do.
