TLF Member, Chan Balagosa, discusses about the benefits of physical activity.
It has been nearly seven months since the first major wave of Covid-19 impacted our society. It has changed many of our daily routines and created several unique challenges for each of us. Like myself, many of us are at home trying to minimize exposure.
Although crucial to stop the spread, this form of intervention may result in the increase of depression, anxiety and loneliness in many of those around us. So, what can we do to keep ourselves occupied during this difficult time? To start, this may be the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with family. For my family, we have began eating more meals together at the table, rather than in front of television. While stuck at home, why not try some new online workouts?
Physical activity is important, and crucial to maintaining ones mental and physical well-being. Also, with the virus still lingering, gyms may not be the best option at the moment. Lastly, and probably the best thing I have done throughout this entire ordeal is picking up a new hobby. Finding a new hobby may lead to many health benefits, such as reducing stress levels and boosting happiness. Most importantly, it will help pass time. With no timetable for the end the pandemic still available, we should keep trying to find new ways to stay occupied and healthy!
